About Penylan House

Situated in the heart of Cardiff’s leafy suburb, Penylan House has been providing residential, nursing, dementia and convalescence care for more than 50 years. The fully redeveloped modern, purpose-built facility has 75 single, ensuite bedrooms and the new rooms are now available.

Penylan House boasts five well-furnished lounges and dining rooms that provide places to come together to socialise, participate in group activities, or entertain visitors. Each area has complimentary tea and coffee making facilities to ensure that friends and relatives can enjoy refreshments together just the same as if it were happening in a persons own home.

The large landscaped garden has plants and a design chosen by our resident garden committee, as well as an all-weather AstroTurf area for outdoor activities. The garden is fully accessible and also completely secure, maximising safety, independence, and choice. Penylan House also has a cinema room and hair salon with visiting stylists.

Registered with the Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CIW), Penylan House provides the highest standards of accommodation and person-centred care, with highly experienced Registered Nurses and Care Assistants providing 24-hour support. The whole building exceeds CSSIW requirements with bigger bedrooms, wider corridors, spacious lounges and a high staff to resident ratio.

Owned and operated by Linc Care, the team at Penylan House recognises that every resident is different, so each person has a unique care plan designed just for them, encompassing both care requirements and personal preference.

Penylan House is one of only three nursing homes in Wales to be named on the Eden Alternative UK Register of Homes. The Eden Alternative is a philosophy of care centred around 10 core principles designed to empower elders to live as full a life as possible.
