Bill Harry Court is a sheltered housing complex located in a quiet part of Tredegar in the local authority area of Blaenau Gwent. The scheme consists of 40 self-contained flats, 16 in an open plan arrangement and 24 within 3 separate blocks of 8 flats in each. A scheme manager is on site 2-3 days per week and when the scheme manager is off duty, the scheme is linked to a community alarm centre that is available 24/7, 365 days per year. In Blaenau Gwent there is also a dedicated Older Persons Support Service who can help tenants’ manage their own homes and access other services.
The scheme has its own communal gardens which are maintained by Linc, and tenants can contribute to the landscaping if they wish. There are wooden benches placed around the scheme for tenants to sit outside and a retractable sun awning outside the front of the communal lounge to offer a shady outside area to meet up.
The communal lounge is the centre of the social life at Bill Harry Court. There are regular bingo sessions, coffee mornings and games evenings. There is also a monthly newsletter which keeps everyone informed of activities and meetings. The Tenants Association meet every month and organise day trips and other various activities.
