Visitors to the site included staff from Welsh Government, Linc Cymru (Linc), Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and F1 Modular (F1M).
The first of its kind in the area, the new extra care scheme, on the site of the old Maesyffynnon Residential Care Home, is being built using innovative modular construction. This method of building is where high-quality sections, known as modules, are manufactured in a factory and then joined together on site.
Linc Cymru (Linc) is working with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and F1 Modular Limited (F1M) to build the state-of-the-art scheme in Aberdare, which aims to meet the growing need for suitable, high quality homes for older people.
The last of the 94 modules arrived on site on Friday 3rd May, a significant milestone in the development. The modular build, which has received funding and support from the Welsh Government’s Innovative Housing Fund, will see the creation of 40 extra care apartments for local people.
The extra care apartments will provide homes where people can live as active and independent lives as possible, where support will be tailored to the needs of the individual.

We’re looking forward to opening the scheme later in the year and for the first residents to move into their new homes.”

F1M has now delivered 94 fully fitted out modules to site which itself been pre-prepared whilst the modules were being manufactured, thus significantly reducing time. The quality of the modules is also excellent which will help with energy efficiency as well as quality of fit out. We very much look forward to seeing the finished development in the coming weeks.”
