Completion Contract for Construction of Sunnyside Wellness Village, Bridgend
Sunnyside Wellness Village is a prestigious development combining health and housing and is designed to meet the needs of local people, while supporting the community through state-of-the-art healthcare provision.
The mixed-use development, on the site of the demolished Bridgend Council Offices and former Magistrates Court, consists of 59 housing units, a Healthcare Centre and associated works including landscaping and infrastructure.
Designed to the WELL Building standard, the development puts people’s health and wellness at the centre of building design.
Sunnyside Wellness Village will see a focus on greening. A community growing space will provide an opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables, and space to relax and enjoy nature will be found in green areas of wildflower planting, while a children’s play area built with natural materials will serve young families.
Sunnyside Wellness Village is being developed through a partnership between Linc Cymru (Linc), Bridgend County Borough Council and Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, with supporting funding from Welsh Government.
In July 2021 work ceased onsite as the contractor entered administration. Linc is now seeking to complete the construction of Sunnyside Wellness Village.
