This blog highlights some of the impactful social value initiatives we've been a part of recently, showing how collaboration and community spirit can truly transform lives. Make sure to read Part One, Two and Three of this blog so you can keep up to date with the projects we’ve been working on.

Developments – Zanzibar

Our partnership with P&P Builders has helped preserve the rich history of Zanzibar, a beloved local music venue. Through the "What Once Stood" project, we received 11 tenders for a music heritage art project, with residents and councillors helping select the winner.

Bond Demolition has been handling the groundwork for Eden Gate’s outdoor space. Although this project is on hold, we’re hopeful it will continue soon.

Developments – Sunnyside Wellness Village

We’re working with Wayne Construction and other partners to deliver social value outcomes for the Sunnyside development. Penybont Primary School will benefit from an outdoor classroom project, while Greenspace SOS will support the wider community with gardening and security initiatives.

We’ve also collaborated with the fire service to use the derelict Sunnyside House for training exercises, helping save on business rates.

Other Activities

Student Mental Health

Mental health workshops are being developed for 30 students at Porth Community School and Cantonian High School, teaching coping strategies and emotional wellbeing.

The Pier Hotel, Porthcawl

We’ve prepared the Pier Hotel for a community arts project, with plans to use the ground floor for local organisations.

Orchard House (Pobl Group)

We’re assisting Pobl Group with heritage projects and social value initiatives, awaiting site visits for further planning.

Cwmpas

Cwmpas is evaluating the "What Once Stood" project and collaborating on social impact reporting for the Lower Dyffryn School development.

Community Fund & Investment

The community fund was relaunched in August 2024, distributing £15,786.62 across various local projects. Since April, we’ve invested £68,025 in communities across Wales, with a forecasted pipeline of £120,578.

Measuring, Monitoring & Reporting

Our development contractors submit quarterly toolkits to track social value progress, which are reviewed by the Welsh Government. We report outcomes through case studies, social media, and ESG/SSRS updates.

Procurement

We hosted a supply chain event to support Welsh SMEs and integrate social value into our procurement processes. Recent contracts, including electrical testing and fire door replacements, now include social value clauses, ensuring lasting community benefits.

Through these initiatives, we’re building relationships, creating opportunities, and leaving a positive legacy across our developments. As we grow, we remain committed to making a difference in every community we serve through social value.
