How We’re Adding Social Value to Our Communities – Part One
At Linc, we believe that creating homes is about more than just building structures; it's about building stronger, healthier communities. Through our partnerships with construction companies and local organisations, we're able to deliver social value projects that make a lasting difference. From supporting schools to helping local businesses, our goal is to ensure that every development brings positive change to the surrounding community.
This blog highlights some of the impactful social value initiatives we've been a part of recently, showing how collaboration and community spirit can truly transform lives.
Pontymister
Castell Group’s Success
Our work with Castell Group has been a huge success, thanks to their collaborative approach. Together, we’ve managed to positively engage the local community in Pontymister, particularly through projects with local schools.
Risca Primary School
- Castell Group helped revamp the playground, fixed up the forest school, and even built bee and bug hotels for the students to enjoy.
- LBS Building Merchants donated materials for artwork displays.
- Students from Coleg Gwent pitched in by repainting outdoor spaces and building vegetable beds.
Risca Comprehensive School
- We donated kitchen equipment for their "Cooking for Independence" program and materials for their forest school.
- We also arranged a special dinosaur experience for the children, featuring Dinomania, AS Animal Encounters, and Sirhowy Valley Honeybee Company.
Local Support Initiatives
Risca Athletic Football Club
After a devastating arson attack, we helped raise £1,600 toward the club’s £5,000 goal through a GoFundMe campaign, ensuring the club could finish the season.
Pontymister Athletic Bowls
We sponsored 45 new team shirts for Pontymister Athletic Bowls, supplied by local business JV Graphics, featuring the Linc and Castell logos.
Community Volunteers Wales
We funded the purchase of a secure storage shed for Community Volunteers Wales and are planning future youth support initiatives.
Mens Sheds
Timber from our site was donated to Mens Sheds, who will use it to repair Risca Primary’s nursery and create planters for the infant yard.
Legacy Projects
Public Defibrillator Installation
We’re installing a public defibrillator (AED) on-site to make emergency help faster and more accessible. The nearest one is over 700 meters away, so this will be a critical addition to the area.
Memorial Garden Project
We’re transforming an overgrown plot of land into a community garden in memory of a local businessman, working with local partners to bring this idea to life.
Considerate Contractor Score
We’re proud to have achieved an 87% Considerate Contractor score, reflecting our commitment to community engagement and responsible construction.
