This blog highlights some of the impactful social value initiatives we've been a part of recently, showing how collaboration and community spirit can truly transform lives. Make sure to read Part One and Two of this blog so you can keep up to date with the projects we’ve been working on.

Constables Close

New Roles

Carpentry Apprentice

We’ve supported a 43-year-old woman in pursuing her dream of becoming a qualified site carpenter. After facing homelessness during the pandemic, she’s now on track to complete her apprenticeship in December 2024 and hopes to secure a job with us at our Sunnyside project.

Trainee/Assistant Site Manager

After starting his career journey with us five years ago as a labourer, we’ve supported a man in advancing his career by helping him to pursue an NVQ Level 6 in Site Management.

Other Projects

Coleg Gwent (Nash Campus)

We sponsored construction skills competitions at Coleg Gwent, encouraging and celebrating students' achievements in trades.

Pill Community

We funded coaches to take local families from Pill on a summer trip to Porthcawl, providing a fun and much-needed getaway.

Waterloo Hotel

Thanks to a partnership we initiated, families living at the Waterloo Hotel now receive more support from the local authority. Together, we’ve been creating communal spaces and improving living conditions with cooking appliances like microwaves and slow cookers.

Homewards Project

Working with partners like Newport City Council, we’re leading efforts to improve temporary accommodation across Newport, including at the Waterloo Hotel, where interventions are already making a difference.

Fly Tipping Campaign

We’ve submitted a funding application to combat fly-tipping through a community art project. If successful, an artist from Barnabas Art House will create a public artwork to raise awareness and inspire change.

Buchan Building and Whitbread Centre

Community engagement has been key in building strong relationships between Caerphilly Council's Development Team and local Rhymney councillors, fostering cohesion and lasting community impact.

Penuel Church

SW Gardens prepared the grounds for a July community event, with Supacleen set to clean carpets and Ian Williams to paint the hall, all as part of voluntary community benefits.

Tir Phil Community Garden

Back on track after funding delays, SW Gardens will complete the community garden project, supporting a visually impaired carpentry student and creating a memorial garden and community growing space.

Fit 4 Living Gym

With support from a local councillor and Caerphilly Council, the gym is relocating and transitioning into a community interest company (CIC). We’re also distributing furniture to charities and repurposing equipment.

Outdoor Gym Equipment

We’re relocating unused gym equipment to Rhymney in coordination with the Council, with contractors assisting in the move and restoration of the space.

The Cascades

We partnered with Langstone Construction to maximise social value through training and community initiatives, ensuring the project delivered positive local outcomes.

School of Hardknocks

Funded by the City Road development, we’re supporting mental health workshops at Fitzalan Comprehensive School, helping pupils develop emotional resilience.

Arts Project

Through Arts and Business Cymru, we launched a courtyard art project, selecting artists who engaged the community in shaping the final design.

Dan Y Mynydd

Construction began on Dan Y Mynydd, an extra care home in Porth. Donations from Intelle Construction have transformed Cymmer Primary School’s playground, and two artists are working with pupils on a Willow Art Gallery.

Tonyrefail High Street Rejuvenation

In collaboration with local groups and businesses, we revitalised Tonyrefail’s high street by repainting shop fronts, instilling community pride.
