Linc and Castell Lay the ‘Golden Brick’ to Mark Affordable Housing Milestone in Oakdale
The development will replace the long-derelict New Forge Public House with modern, energy-efficient homes. The new scheme will provide 20 one-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom apartments, designed to meet the growing demand for affordable housing in the area.
The project will be built using innovative and sustainable methods, including closed panel timber frame construction that guarantees an EPC “A” rating, helping to reduce energy costs for future residents. Solar panels and air source heat pumps will further enhance energy efficiency by providing low-energy water and heating systems.
Linc Cymru is working closely with local residents and stakeholders to ensure the development benefits the community, with features like communal gardens, sustainable drainage systems, and improved access to Syr-Daffydd Avenue.
“We’re thrilled to mark this important milestone today,” said Chris Cater, Project Manager at Linc Cymru. “The ‘golden brick’ represents more than just a physical construction; it signals our commitment to delivering much-needed affordable homes in Oakdale and ensuring high-quality, energy-efficient housing for future residents.”
The project has been made possible with Welsh Government grant support, further solidifying Linc Cymru’s ongoing mission to address housing needs in the Caerphilly Borough. This marks another successful collaboration with Castell Group, who have previously partnered on projects such as the former Crown Inn in Bridgend and the Pontymister service station.
