Tontine Street, Swansea – 21 New Homes to Support People Leaving Homelessness
Developed by Linc in partnership with Sterling Construction Ltd, this 100% affordable housing scheme provides not only a safe and secure place to call home but also the vital support residents need to build independent and fulfilling lives.
Located just a short walk from Swansea train station, the new apartments offer easy access to local amenities, training, volunteering, and employment opportunities – helping residents to reconnect with the community and take positive steps forward.
The homes will be managed by housing charity Goleudy, who will have support staff based on-site to ensure residents can access help whenever they need it. With this wraparound support, individuals will be given the tools and guidance to maintain a stable tenancy and move towards long-term independence.
Thanks to funding support from the Welsh Government’s Social Housing Grant Programme and Swansea Council, the development has been delivered to exceptionally high standards, with sustainability at its core.
Key features of the new homes include:
- A timber frame, low-carbon build
- All-electric systems, with no fossil fuels
- Battery storage to help reduce energy consumption
- A bio-solar roof and enhanced greenery
- Wheelchair accessible provision and secure storage for 22 bicycles
The development has been built to meet Welsh Government’s Decarbonisation Programme standards and is expected to be one of the most energy-efficient social housing schemes in the UK.
This project is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about offering people a real chance to rebuild their lives in a safe, supportive and sustainable environment.
We’re delighted to celebrate this milestone and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new homes will have in the months and years ahead.
